Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes Dominate NHL 26 Ratings with 95 OVR

Overview of NHL 26 Defenseman Ratings
In a thrilling announcement ahead of the game's September release, EA Sports revealed that Colorado Avalanche star Cale Makar and Vancouver Canucks' Quinn Hughes stand out as the only defensemen to receive overall ratings of 95 in NHL 26. This exciting revelation was made as part of the game's first look at the top-ten defenseman rankings released on Tuesday.
Top Defensemen Rankings
The rankings showcase a considerable five-point gap, with Makar leading the way, followed closely by Adam Fox of the New York Rangers, who holds an overall rating of 90 as the second-highest right-handed defenseman. The left-handed defenseman rankings see a tie among several players including the Columbus Blue Jackets' Zach Werenski, Nashville Predators' Roman Josi, Tampa Bay Lightning's Victor Hedman, and Buffalo Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin, all securing a solid 92 OVR.
Winger Ratings Released
In addition to defensemen, EA Sports also unveiled the top winger ratings. Minnesota Wild’s Kirill Kaprizov clinched the title of highest-rated left winger, narrowly edging out Matthew Tkachuk. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Nikita Kucherov led all right wingers with an impressive 96 OVR after showcasing his scoring prowess by leading the NHL in points for the second consecutive season.
