Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James made a notable entry into the G League on Saturday night, finishing his debut with six points as the South Bay Lakers triumphed over the Salt Lake City Stars, concluding the game with a score of 110-96. In addition to his scoring, James recorded three rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block during the game.
James began the game on a positive note, hitting a pull-up jumper that marked the first points of the night for the South Bay Lakers. Despite a challenging shooting performance, where he missed all four of his three-point attempts and made two of five from inside the arc, James displayed flashes of his potential. He executed a floater off the dribble and provided a lob pass to teammate Kylor Kelley during the first half.
The 20-year-old guard's debut attracted a notable audience, including Lakers star Anthony Davis and members of the James family, as well as general manager Rob Pelinka. Quincy Olivari, who recently signed a two-way contract with the Lakers, led the team with 28 points on 8-of-19 shooting. To facilitate James's development ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft, the Lakers assigned him to the G League, where he is expected to primarily participate in home games. The South Bay Lakers' next game at home is scheduled for November 17 against the Stockton Kings.
