Giannis Leads Greece to EuroBasket Semifinals with Stellar Performance Against Lithuania

Giannis Antetokounmpo Shines as Greece Advances in EuroBasket 2025
Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, already a basketball legend with an NBA championship, two MVP titles, and numerous All-Star selections, is now just two wins away from adding a EuroBasket championship to his impressive resume. In a thrilling quarterfinal matchup, Antetokounmpo propelled Greece to a hard-fought 87-76 victory over Lithuania, securing a spot in the semifinals.
Antetokounmpo's performance was nothing short of spectacular as he finished the game with 29 points, six rebounds, two assists, four steals, and one block, shooting 9-of-15 from the field. This impressive display helped Greece achieve its first semifinals appearance since 2009.
Next up for Greece is a crucial showdown against Türkiye, led by rising star Alperen Şengün, who recently achieved a triple-double in his team's quarterfinal victory over Poland. The matchup between Antetokounmpo and Şengün is highly anticipated among NBA fans, showcasing two of the tournament's biggest talents.
Throughout the EuroBasket tournament, Antetokounmpo has been a dominant force, but he received significant support in this game from teammates Vasileios Toliopoulos, who scored 17 points and hit 3-of-4 three-pointers, and Kostas Papanikolaou, who contributed eight points, seven rebounds, and three assists. The effective outside shooting became crucial as Greece, much like the Bucks at their best, became nearly impossible to defend when their supporting cast executed from beyond the arc.
In the quarterfinals, Lithuania maintained a fighting chance, led by Jonas Valančiūnas, who notched a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds. However, the outstanding teamwork and skill displayed by Antetokounmpo and his teammates proved to be too much for Lithuania to handle, ultimately leading Greece to a decisive win.
With the semifinals looming, basketball enthusiasts are eager to see if Antetokounmpo can lead Greece to victory and add another championship to his already illustrious career.
