This deal has the potential to escalate to $230 million if Anthony meets specific performance benchmarks over the duration of his contract.

At just 21 years of age, Anthony has emerged as one of the top prospects in Major League Baseball as the 2025 season approaches. Having made his debut on June 9, he has participated in 46 games, posting an impressive .283/.400/.428 batting line, along with two home runs, 19 runs batted in (RBI), and two stolen bases. With the contract taking effect in 2026, the Red Sox's payroll is anticipated to exceed $200 million, which reflects a growing trend among teams to proactively secure the services of emerging young talent.

In recent years, the Red Sox have been active in extending key players, such as center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela, who signed an eight-year, $50 million deal in April 2024, and second baseman Kristian Campbell, who received $60 million over the same term in the previous spring.
