The St. Louis Blues emerged victorious against the Chicago Blackhawks with a score of 6-2 during the NHL Winter Classic held at Wrigley Field. This matchup further emphasized the Blackhawks' difficulties in the Winter Classic, as their record now stands at 1-6, having scored merely 17 goals across seven outdoor games.
Cam Fowler, playing in his 1,000th game, showcased an impressive performance by leading the Blues in scoring with two goals on just two shots, while also contributing with a blocked shot. The game's first period featured an early goal from Blues' Fowler, assisted by Pavel Buchnevich and Robert Thomas, just 1:40 into the contest. Jordan Kyrou then extended the lead to 2-0 with a wrist shot, assisted by Jake Neighbours. The Blackhawks' Taylor Hall responded later in the first period, scoring on a snap shot to bring the score to 2-1. However, the Blues took control in the third period with goals from Justin Faulk, Dylan Holloway, and Fowler, leading to a commanding 5-1 advantage. Tyler Bertuzzi scored for the Blackhawks, narrowing the lead to 5-2, but Alexandre Texier quickly answered for the Blues, solidifying their victory.
