The Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues are set to showcase a nostalgic aesthetic as they prepare for their New Year's Eve Winter Classic at Wrigley Field. The teams revealed their specially designed uniforms ahead of the December 31 outdoor matchup, embracing throwback elements that pay homage to both the game and the locations they represent.
For the St. Louis Blues, this occasion marks a historic moment, as the franchise will don a sweater that does not feature the iconic music note as their primary logo for the first time in its history. The design of the Blues' uniform draws inspiration from an unworn prototype from 1966, integrating a fleur-de-lis as a subtle nod to the city’s flag, which is included at the back of the jersey's neck.
The Chicago Blackhawks' uniform features striking red stars, symbolizing the city of Chicago, and presents back numbers adorned with pinstripes, a tribute to the rich baseball heritage of Wrigley Field. Both uniforms are infused with historical significance, encapsulating the spirited rivalry of the Central Division opponents. As the 16th edition of the Winter Classic approaches, the Blackhawks will aim for redemption against the Blues, who previously triumphed in the 2017 Winter Classic with a 4-1 victory. This year, players such as Brayden Schenn, Jordan Kyrou, and Pavel Buchnevich will contend with Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks, who are seeking their second outdoor win.
