Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown met with Jim Murphy, the author of 'Inner Excellence,' following a viral moment in which Brown was seen reading the book on the sideline during the Eagles' recent Wild Card game against the Green Bay Packers. This meeting took place at the Eagles' Novacare Complex, where Brown participated in an interview with ESPN's Sal Paolantonio.
In the highlighted moment from the playoff game, A.J. Brown was filmed reading 'Inner Excellence,' which piqued the interest of fans and the media alike. Brown took to social media platform X to share that he brings the book to every game, utilizing it 'between each drive' as a means to refocus and concentrate on the game despite the highs and lows experienced during play. Responding to inquiries about his single catch on three targets during that match, Brown asserted, 'I wasn't frustrated. I like to read.'
Further showcasing his commitment to reading, A.J. Brown's charitable foundation announced a new reading initiative on Wednesday. Notably, Murphy's book has experienced a surge in popularity, rising to the top of Amazon's trending list after the Eagles game, having previously been ranked significantly lower. Murphy revealed that sales jumped from five copies a day to 10,000 the day after the Eagles' matchup. He is contemplating a re-release of the book with Brown's endorsement. The relationship between Murphy and Brown has since evolved, as they have discussed potential collaborations aimed at raising awareness and funding for shared causes. As for Brown's performance, he missed practice earlier this week due to rest and a knee issue, but he returned to full activity on Friday, aiming to enhance his output in the upcoming divisional round against the Los Angeles Rams.
