Alonso, who was recently recognized as a finalist for the Silver Slugger Award, concluded the 2024 season with a batting average of .240, complemented by 34 home runs and 88 RBIs across 162 games. His contributions were pivotal in the Mets' journey to the National League Championship Series (NLCS).

The Mets have extended a one-year qualifying offer valued at $21.05 million to Alonso, which he is anticipated to reject. Should Alonso sign with another team, the Mets will receive a compensatory draft pick.
