Top 10 Prospect Jac Caglianone Poised for Major League Debut with Royals

Top MLB prospect Jac Caglianone could soon make his major league debut with the Kansas City Royals. Reports from ESPN indicate that the Royals are planning to promote Caglianone from Triple-A Omaha.
Caglianone was selected as the No. 6 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft and is currently ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. After being promoted to Triple-A on May 19, the 22-year-old showcased an impressive performance, having slashed .322/.394/.553 over 38 games with Double-A Northwest Arkansas. In Triple-A, he has maintained a strong batting average of .319, highlighted by a particularly impressive stretch in which he hit six home runs across eight games.
Caglianone recently expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from the Kansas City community, stating his appreciation for the enthusiasm surrounding his potential call-up. Transitioning from a collegiate career as a pitcher and first baseman at Florida, Caglianone made his first professional start in the outfield earlier this season. With guidance from former Royals outfield coach Rusty Kuntz, who previously assisted in the successful transition of Alex Gordon from third base to outfield, Caglianone's development might expedite his entrance into the major leagues. The Royals' outfield has struggled this season, with a collective batting line of .230/.293/.316 through 59 games, and the club's recent release of veteran outfielder Hunter Renfroe further emphasizes their need for new talent. General Manager J.J. Picollo has indicated that while the club is focused on Caglianone's development, they are cautious about placing immediate pressure on him to rejuvenate a faltering offense. Should Caglianone make his debut, the Royals will hope his powerful hitting will translate effectively at the major league level as they aim to improve their standing in the AL Central.
