Tom Brady Shares Crucial Rehab Advice with Patrick Mahomes Following ACL Injury

Brady's Guidance for Mahomes After Injury
In the wake of Patrick Mahomes' torn ACL during the Kansas City Chiefs' recent defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers, NFL legend Tom Brady has stepped in to offer invaluable advice. On his Let’s Go! podcast, Brady emphasized the importance of focusing on the future while dealing with such significant injuries.
“The only thing you can do is focus on what's ahead of you and not look back,” Brady stated. He continued by reassuring Mahomes that many have faced similar challenges and successfully overcome them. “You’ve just got to put as much diligence into the rehab process,” he added, drawing from his own experience. Brady faced a similar injury in his ninth season, tearing his ACL during the first game of his 2008 campaign.
Rehab Approach and Commitment
Both Brady and Mahomes have had to navigate through torn ACLs at pivotal moments in their careers. Brady stressed that the key to a successful recovery lies in the commitment to the rehab process. He advised, “Sometimes people will pace themselves…Instead of training mode, they're in rehab mode. You've got to get through rehab mode as fast as possible, and then you get back to training mode.”
As Mahomes embarks on his recovery journey following successful surgery, he faces a timeline of 9-12 months before returning to the field. Meanwhile, Brady serves as a prime example of what can be achieved post-injury, having earned Comeback Player of the Year honors in 2009 and subsequently capturing another MVP award.
The Chiefs' playoff hopes were dashed with their latest loss, leaving Mahomes with a critical mission ahead—to recover and return as a formidable force for Kansas City.
