Tom Brady lauds Patrick Mahomes as a Super Bowl contender
During a recent broadcast of the matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens on FOX, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady expressed high regard for Patrick Mahomes, a fellow three-time Super Bowl champion. As competition for playoff spots in the AFC heats up, Brady indicated a preference for Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs over the formidable Buffalo Bills and their quarterback Josh Allen as the team likely to secure a championship. 'I think if it's a one score game, I'm taking Patrick Mahomes any time because he's just got that championship DNA,' Brady stated during the broadcast.
The Kansas City Chiefs currently boast a record of 14-1, having already clinched the top position in the AFC, while the Buffalo Bills hold a close second place at 11-3, also having secured their division title. Mahomes, now in his fourth season, has accumulated impressive statistics this year, with 3,348 passing yards, which ranks him 10th in the league, alongside 22 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions, resulting in a quarterback rating of 66.5.
Brady's admiration for Mahomes is not a new sentiment. Ahead of Super Bowl LVII, where the Chiefs faced the San Francisco 49ers, he welcomed the comparisons drawn between their respective careers. 'There's nothing that Patrick can do, in my opinion, that takes away from what I tried to accomplish in my career and there's nothing that I did that can take away from what he's trying to accomplish,' Brady shared during an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show.' Despite Mahomes needing four more championships to match Brady's record, the former quarterback expressed enthusiastic support, stating, 'And believe me, if anybody can go out there and win seven Super Bowls, I have so much respect for them. I understand how difficult it is. I will congratulate them and I'm going to give whoever it is a big hug.'
