Tom Brady Compares Rookie Jayden Daniels to Tiger Woods
During a recent episode of the Let's Go! podcast, Tom Brady offered an intriguing comparison regarding Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Brady likened Daniels' composure and performance throughout Washington's playoff run to that of legendary golfer Tiger Woods during his triumph at the Masters in 1997, when Woods secured his first title at the age of 22. While comparisons to an iconic athlete like Woods are challenging, Daniels has indeed demonstrated the type of skill and poise this season that warrant such recognition.
Drafted as the second overall pick in the 2024 draft, Daniels has made a significant impact, amassing 3,568 passing yards along with 25 passing touchdowns. In addition to his aerial success, he has also contributed on the ground with 891 rushing yards and six touchdowns, helping to guide the Commanders to their first playoff appearance since 2020. His efforts were particularly evident in the wild-card round, where he recorded 268 passing yards and two touchdowns, leading Washington to victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, marking the franchise's first playoff win since 2005.
Continuing his impressive run, Daniels showcased his abilities in the divisional round against a highly ranked opponent, throwing for 299 yards and two touchdowns to help defeat the Detroit Lions. With this milestone, he has now become just the fifth rookie quarterback in NFL history to lead a team to the conference championship game. Should he manage to overcome the Philadelphia Eagles, Daniels would make history as the first rookie quarterback to start in a Super Bowl.
