Texas Rangers Celebrate Anime Culture with Jujutsu Kaisen Night

On Thursday, the Texas Rangers announced a unique special-edition jersey initiative that is likely to resonate with anime enthusiasts. This initiative, tied to Jujutsu Kaisen Night, is scheduled for July 1 when the Rangers face off against the Baltimore Orioles. The event has garnered significant attention, evidenced by the fact that tickets for Jujutsu Kaisen Night have already sold out. Ticket holders can expect to receive the co-branded jersey upon arrival at Globe Life Field, enhancing their experience during this themed event.
The Rangers have planned a variety of theme nights throughout the remainder of the season, showcasing a diverse range of pop culture elements. Events include AEW Wrestling Night, Hello Kitty Night, Barbie Night, and Superman Day among others. This current collaboration with anime is not MLB's inaugural venture into this genre; earlier in the season, the league announced a partnership with Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba in collaboration with Ufotable. This partnership included the release of a short video featuring prominent players like Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani and Chicago Cubs pitcher Shota Imanaga.
Additionally, MLB has embarked on an exciting collaboration with director Hiroshi Shimizu for an anime project titled Heroes of the Game. This series promises to be an exciting narrative featuring acclaimed players including Shohei Ohtani, Paul Skenes, Aaron Judge, and Juan Soto. Currently, the Texas Rangers sit third in the American League West with a record of 27-30, struggling in recent games with eight losses in their last ten matchups, including a 2-0 shutout against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday. Looking to regain momentum, the Rangers will host the St. Louis Cardinals, who have a record of 32-34, in the opening of a three-game series on Friday.
