Teoscar Hernández Re-signs with the Los Angeles Dodgers

Outfielder Teoscar Hernández will remain with the Los Angeles Dodgers after an impressive season in 2024. As reported by Chris Cotillo of MassLive, Hernández has secured a three-year contract valued at $66 million with the Dodgers, which includes a fourth-year option worth $15 million. In addition, the agreement features $23 million in deferred compensation along with a $23 million signing bonus, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Hernández's commitment to the Dodgers was seemingly confirmed through a post on his Instagram story. This marks Hernández's third team in four years, following a stint with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners; he joined the Dodgers before the 2024 season. In the previous season, Hernández delivered significant contributions, earning his second career All-Star selection and helping the Dodgers achieve a remarkable 98-64 record, which was the best in the National League.
In addition to being crowned the 2024 Home Run Derby champion, Hernández concluded the season with a career-high of 33 home runs, 99 RBIs, and a .272 batting average. During the postseason, he maintained a batting average of .250, hitting three home runs and driving in 12 runs as the Dodgers triumphed over the New York Yankees in five games to secure the World Series. Following this successful season, Hernández was recognized with a Silver Slugger Award for the third time in his career. As he enters the 2025 season, Hernández will be in his tenth year in Major League Baseball, having made his debut in 2016 with the Houston Astros before being traded to the Blue Jays the following year. With his track record of hitting 20 or more home runs in six of the last eight seasons, the Dodgers are poised to benefit from Hernández's experience and power in their competitive lineup alongside stars like Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman.
