Tank Dell Suffers Knee Injury During Texans vs. Chiefs Matchup
Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was transported off the field on a stretcher due to a knee injury sustained during the team’s Week 16 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Texans promptly ruled him out for the remainder of the matchup.
The injury occurred early in the third quarter on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud to Dell. As the play unfolded, Dell's leg was unintentionally caught underneath teammate Jared Wayne while celebrating in the back of the end zone. Prior to his exit, Dell recorded six receptions for 98 yards, highlighted by the notable touchdown reception.
Dell has been a vital contributor to the Texans' offense this season, accumulating a total of 51 catches for 667 yards and three touchdowns. He has developed a strong partnership with Nico Collins, particularly with starting receiver Stefon Diggs sidelined due to injury. If Dell's knee injury necessitates a prolonged recovery period, the Texans’ receiving corps will be significantly weakened, as they are also without John Metchie III, along with tight ends Dalton Keene and Cade Stover. In Dell's absence, Houston will depend on Robert Woods, Xavier Hutchinson, and Jared Wayne to provide support to the offense.
