Stephen Curry Shatters NBA Record in Return Despite Warriors' Loss to Timberwolves

Stephen Curry's Historic Return
In an unforgettable night for basketball fans, Stephen Curry marked his return from injury while also setting an NBA record in the Golden State Warriors' 127-120 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. Scoring a remarkable 39 points, Curry showcased his scoring prowess by shooting 14-for-28 from the field and 6-for-15 from beyond the arc.
Breaking Michael Jordan's Record
This performance was significant as it was the 94th time Curry has recorded a 35-point game since turning 30, surpassing the legendary Michael Jordan’s record of 93 games for the most such performances in NBA history. Despite Curry's historic accomplishment, the Warriors struggled to secure a win, particularly in the absence of Anthony Edwards from the Timberwolves' lineup and key players like Al Horford and Draymond Green not participating for the Warriors.
Injury Comeback and Future Milestones
The game marked Curry's sixth outing of the season where he topped 35 points, an impressive feat considering he has been limited to just 17 games due to various injuries. Prior to this game, he had missed five consecutive games due to a quad injury. Excited about his return, Curry celebrated by making a 100-point shot ahead of the game, further demonstrating his readiness to contribute.
Curry is also looking forward to another milestone ahead when he will finally have the chance to play alongside his brother, Seth Curry, in the regular season. Seth, who made his Warriors debut on December 2, was a DNP for the game against the Timberwolves.
Next Up for the Warriors
The Golden State Warriors will be back in action on Sunday night as they take on the Portland Trail Blazers at 9 p.m. ET, hoping to bounce back from this narrow defeat and build on Curry's remarkable performance.
