Stephen Curry Embraces Shoe Freedom Ahead of Warriors vs. Rockets Showdown

Stephen Curry's Shoe Free Agency Continues
As the Golden State Warriors prepare to face off against the Houston Rockets, superstar point guard Stephen Curry is making headlines for his unique shoe choices. Arriving at the arena on Wednesday, Curry paid tribute to rapper Travis Scott, donning the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low, a nod to Scott's Houston roots.
Earlier this month, Curry and Under Armour, his long-time shoe sponsor, announced their split after over a decade of collaboration. As a result, Curry will release one final signature shoe with Under Armour in February, but in the meantime, he has the freedom to explore different sneaker brands.
This newfound independence has allowed Curry to showcase a variety of shoes that reflect each team's history he faces. Last week, against the Miami Heat, he wore Dwyane Wade's Way of Wade 1. When the Warriors faced off against the Orlando Magic, he paid homage to Magic legends by sporting Shaquille O'Neal's Reebok shoes and Penny Hardaway's Air Penny 2.
In an impressive show of sneaker culture, Curry also sported the iconic "Flu Game" Air Jordan 12 before transitioning to the "Last Shot" Air Jordan 14 during warmups prior to the match against the Utah Jazz, paying homage to Michael Jordan's legendary performances against the Jazz. In that game, he also wore Sabrina Ionescu's Sabrina 3's.
After the matchup, Curry shared his intentions going forward, stating, "I plan to honor certain eras, moments in the game, current athletes," hinting at future sneaker choices. "It's kind of cool understanding the history of the game and the themes around certain teams we're playing. So I brought out the 'Flu Games' and the 'Final Shots.' Everybody should be on alert. I'm calling everybody, trying to get some good product, but it's just fun to honor certain eras and moments in the game while having fun with it."
