Seattle Kraken Introduces New Alternate Jersey
The Seattle Kraken have revealed an eye-catching alternate uniform for the upcoming 2025-26 NHL season. The announcement came via a video posted on the team's official X account, showcasing a bold shift from their traditional deep sea blue and ice blue color scheme.
The new jerseys are predominantly black, featuring a unique "bioluminescent glow" around the team crest. This innovative design element allows the logo to glow in the dark, adding a vibrant touch to the uniform. Additionally, the jerseys are adorned with sublimated sonar pings on the sleeves, symbolizing the rich waters of the northwestern United States.
In a nod to local heritage, each jersey also displays a patch honoring the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, which is primarily situated in Auburn, Washington, not far from Seattle. This thoughtful addition reinforces the team's connection to the community.
Kraken's Recent Performance and Coaching Changes
Since their debut as an NHL expansion team in the 2021-22 season, the Kraken have faced ups and downs. Their most significant achievement came in the 2022-23 season when they made their playoff debut, advancing to the second round before being eliminated by the Dallas Stars in a nail-biting seven-game series.
The last two seasons, however, have been challenging for Seattle, finishing with records of 34-35-13 for 81 points in 2023-24 and 35-41-6 for 76 points in 2024-25, resulting in missed playoff opportunities. In an effort to redirect the team's fortunes, the Kraken recently made a coaching change, parting ways with Dan Bylsma and bringing in former New York Islanders head coach Lane Lambert.
Looking ahead, the Kraken maintain a solid roster, highlighted by key forwards Matty Beniers, Jordan Eberle, Kaapo Kakko, Jared McCann, Shane Wright, and Jaden Schwartz, along with defensemen Brandon Montour, Vince Dunn, and Adam Larsson, and goalie Joey Daccord.
Jersey Availability for Fans
The excitement surrounding the new alternate jerseys has prompted the Kraken to announce a pre-order opportunity for season ticket holders, starting September 5. General public pre-sales will begin on September 11, with the jerseys officially hitting stores and online on October 5.
