Philadelphia 76ers Set to Unveil Throwback Uniforms Celebrating Allen Iverson's Legacy

76ers Gear Up for Throwback Uniform Reveal
The Philadelphia 76ers are on the verge of unveiling their highly-anticipated throwback uniforms that pay homage to Allen Iverson's legendary MVP season. The team teased fans with a post on X, marking the release date with '9.24', prominently displayed on Iverson's iconic 'The Answer' armband.
Iverson, a pivotal figure in 76ers history, donned the black jersey with a star motif during the team's memorable run to the 2001 NBA Finals. Over his illustrious 12 seasons with the team, he earned a remarkable seven consecutive All-Star selections between 1999 and 2006 and was recognized as the NBA's leading scorer three times.
Honoring Historical Success
The announcement comes as part of the Sixers' broader initiative to honor the 2001 Eastern Conference champions during the franchise's 25th anniversary celebrations. Recently, the team revealed an exciting first look at a throwback court design set to debut in the 2025-26 season. This unique court will feature the throwback logo at center court and along both baselines, making its first appearance during a matchup against the Toronto Raptors on November 8.
As the 76ers look to the future, they aim to reignite the spark of the Iverson era to help recover from a disappointing 24-58 campaign last season. Despite signing star Paul George in the summer of 2024, injuries to both George and superstar Joel Embiid led to the team's absence from the playoffs for the first time since 2017. The franchise is hopeful that with a healthier roster, including key young talents like Tyrese Maxey, they can regain their place as contenders in the upcoming spring season.
