Packers' Jayden Reed Ruled Out with Broken Collarbone Ahead of Clash with Commanders

Green Bay Packers Face Tough Blow with Reed's Injury
The Green Bay Packers are dealing with a significant injury setback as wide receiver Jayden Reed has been ruled out of their upcoming matchup against the Washington Commanders on Thursday night due to a shoulder injury.
Reed's Injury Details
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that Reed has suffered a broken collarbone, which could result in a lengthy absence from the field. Reed experienced a hard fall during the Packers' first possession when he made a 39-yard touchdown reception that was nullified by an offensive holding penalty. Following the catch, he hit the ground hard, stayed down momentarily, and then walked to the sidelines before heading into the locker room.
Impact on the Team
Reed's status was initially listed as questionable before the team made the decision to rule him out. The 25-year-old had previously missed time in training camp due to a Jones Fracture in his left foot but had managed to contribute significantly up until now. As a notable addition to the Packers' offense, Reed has recorded a total of 55 catches for 857 yards and six touchdowns during the 2024 campaign.
Looking Ahead
Compounding the issue, Green Bay is already facing depth challenges at the wide receiver position, as Christian Watson remains on the physically unable to perform list while he continues his recovery from a torn ACL. With Reed sidelined, players like Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs, and Dontayvion Wicks are expected to take on larger roles in the offense. Additionally, tight end Tucker Kraft may become a crucial component in the passing game as the Packers adjust to this latest challenge.
