NHL Teams All-Time Greats: A Look at the Mount Rushmore of Players

Each NHL franchise boasts players whose accomplishments are noteworthy among their peers. These individuals may be scoring forwards, skilled defensemen, or outstanding goaltenders. Within this group, a select few are often regarded as the best, their contributions significant enough to carve their likenesses onto their respective teams' Mount Rushmore of all-time players. Given the long and storied histories of many NHL franchises, it presents a challenge to narrow down to just four players. For teams with a shorter history, however, the selection process tends to be more straightforward. This analysis focuses on players from the past 25 years of NHL history, beginning in the 2000-01 season. Such a timeframe allows for the recognition of players more familiar to today's fans, factoring in overall performance, postseason success, and their value to their teams, alongside their potential standing as fan favorites during that span. Some players noted in this list may be associated with more than one team's Mount Rushmore, particularly those whose careers traversed multiple franchises. This encompasses players from relocated teams, including the Atlanta Thrashers (now Winnipeg Jets) and the Arizona Coyotes (now Utah Mammoth).
For the Anaheim Ducks, Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Teemu Selänne, and Jean-Sébastien Giguère stand out prominently. Getzlaf is celebrated for his tenure as the longest-serving captain in franchise history, playing a pivotal role in the Ducks' success with a franchise-best 1,157 games, 737 assists, and 1,019 points. Perry's accolades include winning the Hart Memorial Trophy and the Maurice Richard Trophy during the 2010-11 season, and he holds second place for goals and third for points in franchise history. Teemu Selänne, a Hall of Famer, spent 15 of his 21 NHL seasons with the Ducks, leading the team with 457 career goals and securing his place among the franchise's greats. Rounding out this illustrious group is Giguère, the franchise leader in wins and shutouts, recognized for his contributions in leading the Ducks to their 2007 Stanley Cup victory.
Similarly, the Boston Bruins feature an impressive collection of talents including Patrice Bergeron, Zdeno Chára, David Pastrňák, and Brad Marchand. Bergeron, a six-time recipient of the Frank J. Selke Trophy, ranks high among the Bruins in games played, goals, and points. Chára, a Hall of Fame defenseman and the recipient of the James Norris Memorial Trophy, captained the team for an impressive 14 seasons and contributed greatly to their 2011 Stanley Cup championship. Pastrňák's scoring prowess places him among a select few Bruins to score 60 goals in a season and he has emerged as a potent offensive threat since breaking into the league. Marchand, who also contributed to the Bruins' Cup win in 2011, is highly regarded for his skill on the ice and ranks among the top players in franchise history for games played and goals.
