NHL Game Postponement Due to Wildfires in Los Angeles
The scheduled game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Calgary Flames at Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday night has been postponed due to the ongoing wildfires affecting the Los Angeles area. Originally set to start at 10:30 p.m. ET, the decision was made out of concern for the safety of fans and players alike amidst these challenging conditions.
A makeup date for the postponed game will be announced once it is confirmed. In a statement, the NHL expressed its support for the Kings, their fans, and the broader Los Angeles community during this difficult time, stating, 'The thoughts of the entire NHL family are with the Kings, hockey fans, and the people of the Los Angeles area during this difficult time.'
The Kings' upcoming schedule will see them playing their next five games on the road, commencing with a match against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, followed by a game in Calgary on Saturday. Their next planned home game is set against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday, January 20. Additionally, the NFL is keeping an eye on the situation, as the wildfires could potentially impact the Wild Card game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Rams, also scheduled for Monday night in Inglewood. The NFL announced it would remain in contact with both teams regarding developments in the area.
