NBA 2K26 Breaks New Ground: WNBA Stars Join Forces with NBA Legends

NBA 2K26 Introduces WNBA Players in MyTEAM Mode
For the first time in the history of the NBA 2K series, gamers will have the exciting opportunity to combine the talents of NBA stars, both past and present, with their WNBA counterparts in the upcoming NBA 2K26. Announced on Thursday, 2K is integrating WNBA players into the popular MyTEAM mode, allowing fans to build squads featuring a blend of legends from both leagues.
This groundbreaking integration means you can now create dream backcourts, such as pairing Indiana Fever's Caitlin Clark with two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry. Fans can also imagine a formidable forward duo with Las Vegas Aces' A'ja Wilson alongside 21-time All-Star LeBron James. Furthermore, the combination of LSU basketball icons Angel Reese and Shaquille O'Neal promises to pack the paint with immense talent.
Gameplay Enhancements and Innovations
Along with the inclusion of WNBA players, NBA 2K26's MyTEAM will feature every team's jersey and court floor for customization. The game will also benefit from a new commentary track recorded by Kevin Harlan, Greg Anthony, and Stan Van Gundy, comprising audio commentary that reflects the unique dynamics of WNBA and NBA stars sharing the court.
"MyTEAM is where competition meets a basketball fan's wildest imagination," said Erick Boenisch, the vice president of NBA Development at Visual Concepts. He emphasized the importance of this integration, stating, "By incorporating the WNBA into one of our most popular modes, we're not only allowing players to customize their all-time dream rosters but also highlighting the game’s most iconic athletes. We are eager to present players with a fresh and engaging connection to the WNBA."
NBA 2K26 will also introduce several new features in MyTEAM, including consumable Game Changer Cards, a revamped MyTEAM Arena, and a new Breakout: Gauntlet game mode, amongst other enhancements. This announcement follows the recent extension of the WNBA's partnership with 2K, which aims to expand the league's presence and impact in the gaming community.
Terri Carmichael Jackson, executive director of the Women's National Basketball Players Association, commended the renewed partnership, highlighting its significance not just in basketball but across culture and sport. "Our players continue to raise the bar, and this renewed partnership with 2K ensures their impact is felt not just on the court but across culture, gaming, and the global growth of the sport," she stated.
The WNBA made its video game debut with NBA Live 18 and joined the 2K series with NBA 2K20. The inclusion of WNBA players in MyTEAM is touted as the most significant expansion yet, promising an exhilarating experience for fans. The standard edition of NBA 2K26 is set for worldwide release on September 5, with early access available for 'Superstar Edition' purchasers starting August 29.
