NBA Suspends Players Following Mavericks-Suns Altercation

The NBA has taken disciplinary action in response to an on-court altercation that occurred during the game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns. Following the incident, the league announced the suspensions of several players involved. Mavericks forward Naji Marshall has been suspended for four games without pay, while Suns center Jusuf Nurkić has received a three-game suspension without pay due to their participation in the altercation. Additionally, Mavericks forward P.J. Washington has been suspended for one game for escalating the situation.
The confrontation took place in the third quarter of the Mavericks' 98-89 victory over the Suns. In the game, Washington recorded seven points, three rebounds, and two assists in 20 minutes before his ejection. Marshall contributed four points, three rebounds, and two assists in 19 minutes, while Nurkić managed three points, five rebounds, and two assists in 14 minutes.
As a result of the suspensions, Marshall and Washington will be absent for Saturday's matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. Furthermore, Marshall will miss additional games against the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and Cleveland Cavaliers, with a return anticipated on January 6 against the Memphis Grizzlies. Nurkić will also sit out the upcoming games against the Golden State Warriors, Grizzlies, and Indiana Pacers, with a return scheduled for January 6 against the Philadelphia 76ers. The two teams are set to meet again on March 9 in Dallas.
