NBA and WNBA to Introduce New LED Shot Clocks at 2025 All-Star Game

The NBA and WNBA will debut a redesigned shot clock at the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, scheduled for February 16. This new timing device, which incorporates LED technology, will make its first appearance during the All-Star festivities before being rolled out league-wide for the 2025-26 season.
The upgraded shot clock will feature a circular design, with the game clock and shot clock integrated into the display. According to sources, the NBA consulted with Tissot approximately 18 months ago to develop an IP-based shot clock that culminated in this innovative design. The WNBA is set to adopt the new clocks starting with the 2026 season. While the circular shape introduces a fresh aesthetic, key visual elements will remain consistent, such as the use of red numbers to mark the end of each quarter and amber to signal the expiration of the shot clock. Additionally, a green countdown clock will be implemented for coaching challenges.
Tissot CEO Sylvain Dolla indicated that the shot clocks will feature customizable colors for special occasions. "If we are in an arena where the team plays and their team color is red, we can be red. If it's yellow, we can put it yellow," Dolla explained, highlighting the potential for dynamic visual displays. The new shot clock was officially presented in Paris during the unveiling of a two-game series between the Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs at Accor Arena. This announcement underscores an expanded partnership between the NBA, WNBA, G League, and Tissot, which has served as the official timekeeper for these leagues since the 2016-17 season.
