NBA All-Star Weekend Loses Two Key Players to Injury

The upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend has encountered a setback with the announcement that two prominent players will be unable to participate due to injuries. According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Dallas Mavericks center Anthony Davis and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo are the affected athletes, both of whom will miss the All-Star game. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is set to select injury replacements for the event.
Anthony Davis, who was recently traded to the Mavericks from the Los Angeles Lakers, is sidelined with an adductor strain that he incurred during his initial game with his new team on Saturday. In that game, Davis recorded an impressive performance with 26 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 assists in just 31 minutes of play, contributing significantly to Dallas' 116-105 victory over the Houston Rockets. Over the course of the season, Davis has averaged 25.7 points, 12 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks across 43 games.
On the other hand, Giannis Antetokounmpo is sidelined due to a calf strain that has kept him out of action since February 2. It is anticipated that he will be able to return shortly after the conclusion of the All-Star break. Antetokounmpo has had an outstanding season thus far, averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 5.9 assists over 41 games. The 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend is scheduled to take place from February 14 to 15 in San Francisco, California.
