Myles Garrett Eyes Historic Sacks Record Against Aaron Rodgers in Week 17 Showdown

Cleveland Browns Star Myles Garrett Chases NFL Sack Record
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is set to make NFL history as he aims to break the league's single-season sack record in the crucial Week 17 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Currently boasting an impressive 22.0 sacks, Garrett stands just half a sack away from surpassing the longstanding record of 22.5 sacks, a feat accomplished by Michael Strahan in 2001 and matched by T.J. Watt in 2021.
Garrett remarked on the significance of breaking the record against legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers, stating, "It'd be special. He's legendary himself, and it's a legendary record I'm here chasing. That'd be a great one to put a picture on the wall with." However, the prospect of facing Rodgers is uncertain as the Steelers could secure the NFC North title if the Baltimore Ravens lose to the Green Bay Packers Saturday night.
If coach Mike Tomlin decides to rest Rodgers due to the playoff implications, Garrett may instead go up against Steelers backup Mason Rudolph. The two players have a contentious history stemming from a notorious brawl in 2019, but Garrett remains focused, saying, "I don't think there's a lot of history between the two of us. But whether I get it against him or I get it against Aaron makes no difference to me, as long as it gets got."
Throughout his career, Garrett has faced the Steelers 15 times, logging 13 sacks, including five in his most recent two matchups. Interestingly, he has yet to register a sack on Rodgers. The stakes are high as the team awaits the Ravens-Packers result to determine if Garrett will have the opportunity to make history when the game kicks off on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in Cleveland.
Notably, Watt will not be present to witness if his record gets broken, as he has been sidelined after surgery for a partially collapsed lung and is officially out for the Week 17 game.
