Lonnie Walker IV Draws Interest from NBA Teams Following EuroLeague Performance
Lonnie Walker IV is currently generating interest from several NBA teams and is available for a buyout from his contract with Žalgiris in the EuroLeague. According to NBA Insider Marc Stein, teams have until February 18 to make a move for Walker IV. The Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets, and Boston Celtics have all been noted as potential suitors for the talented guard.
Earlier, Walker IV participated in a training camp with the Boston Celtics, further increasing speculation regarding his return to the NBA. In a statement prior to the 2024-2025 NBA season, he shared that he was moving on from the league after opting not to sign a G League contract with the Maine Red Claws. He later took to social media to share his thoughts, emphasizing his youth and belief in his journey saying, 'I'm only 25, all in due time. The marathon continues. I know the stars will align. Walker IV has been performing impressively for Žalgiris Kaunas, averaging 14.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists over 11 games, while shooting 43.7 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three-point range. The guard, who was the No. 18 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of the University of Miami, spent the first four seasons of his career with the San Antonio Spurs, starting 56 games and averaging 9.4 points per game with a shooting percentage of 41 percent from the field and 34 percent from beyond the arc. After his tenure with the Spurs, Walker IV played one season with the Los Angeles Lakers before joining the Celtics, where he averaged 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 42 percent from the field off the bench.
