Leaguewide Farm System Rankings Heading into 2025

Following the conclusion of the Arizona Fall League and several significant trades, an updated ranking of MLB farm systems is now available as teams prepare for the 2025 season. The rankings are based on a tier system designed to highlight varying levels of individual talent within each organization. The teams were evaluated based on the cumulative tier ranking of their top ten prospects. To qualify for this ranking, players must not have surpassed rookie eligibility limits, which are defined as 130 at-bats, 50 innings pitched, or 45 days on an active roster.
The San Francisco Giants lead with their top prospect, Bryce Eldridge, a first baseman indicated as a Tier 1 talent, followed by outfielders James Tibbs III and Rayner Arias, who have shown considerable promise. The organization's efforts to develop position-player talent appear to be paying off, with recent first-round draft picks bolstering their system. Meanwhile, the New York Yankees experienced a challenging year but have potential breakout candidates in the minors, such as George Lombard Jr. and Ben Hess, who could provide depth in 2025.
In that same spirit, the San Diego Padres have a particularly thin system aside from international signings Leodalis De Vries and Ethan Salas. The Toronto Blue Jays enhanced their developmental depth at the trade deadline, while the Arizona Diamondbacks focus on a win-now mentality despite past setbacks. Other organizations such as the Tampa Bay Rays and Minnesota Twins have amassed impressive young talent. The shifts in ranking highlight the dynamism of each team's approach, whether through the draft, trades, or international signings, as they aim to bolster their chances for success in the upcoming season.
