Kyle Tucker Exits Game with Injury as Cubs Prepare for Road Series

Chicago Cubs right fielder Kyle Tucker exited the game against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday due to a jammed right finger, as reported by the Cubs' broadcast team. Tucker's injury occurred during a hard slide into second base while attempting to steal in the bottom of the first inning. He remained in the game for two additional at-bats before being replaced by Vidal Brujan in right field.
Tucker initially reached base after being hit by a pitch in the foot during the first inning. He later scored a run on a single by teammate Pete Crow-Armstrong in the third inning and recorded a foul out on the Cubs' final out of the fourth. Brujan entered the game in the fifth inning, bringing his experience as a utility player, with 17 appearances for the Cubs prior to this game, where he had batted .278 with two RBIs.
Before his trade to Chicago in December, Tucker suffered a right shin fracture while playing for the Houston Astros, which limited him to almost half of the 2024 campaign. Since joining the Cubs, Tucker has participated in all of the team's first 59 games of the season, showcasing a strong performance with a slash line of .283/.391/.520, contributing 12 home runs and 39 RBIs. His addition has played a significant role in the Cubs' success, including a notable 3.5-game lead in the NL Central. Heading into their next series, the Cubs are set to embark on a three-game stretch against the Washington Nationals.
