Jalen Greens Farewell to Houston and Future with Phoenix

In a heartfelt farewell letter to the Houston Rockets, Jalen Green expressed his appreciation for the team where he began his professional career, while also making it clear that he will not hold back when facing them next season. The letter, published in The Players' Tribune, conveyed his sentiments to fans, reminding them not to take it personally if he performs particularly well against the Rockets when his new team, the Phoenix Suns, takes the court against them.
'And if I bust y’all ass for 30 next season, just remember the good times!' Green wrote, hinting at the competitive spirit that he will bring to these match-ups.
Drafted second overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, Green enjoyed a successful tenure with the Rockets, contributing significantly to their progress. However, the team made the decision to trade him, along with Dillon Brooks and future draft picks, to the Suns in exchange for the star player Kevin Durant. While the move marks a significant change in his career, Green expressed understanding regarding the Rockets' choice. 'Listen, nobody likes to get traded. But I can honestly say that I get it, bro,' he remarked in his letter. 'This is a business, and if I was up there in the executive chair, I probably would’ve made the deal, too. I think it’s a better situation for both sides, and I’m just excited to get it popping with Book, and to create that winning culture that we figured out down here in Houston.'
Last season, Green showcased one of his best performances, averaging 21 points per game and playing a key role in helping the Rockets secure the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. Now, as he transitions to Phoenix, Green looks forward to teaming up with fellow star Devin Booker and working towards a strong competitive presence for the Suns in the West. As the upcoming season approaches, anticipation builds for the first encounter between the Suns and Rockets, where Green is expected to bring his best effort to the floor.
