Jac Caglianones Potential MLB Debut with Kansas City Royals

Top-10 MLB prospect Jac Caglianone is on the verge of making his major league debut with the Kansas City Royals, as reported by Jeff Passan of Moneyline. The Royals are expected to call up Caglianone from Triple-A Omaha, following a promising performance in the minor leagues.
Caglianone, selected as the No. 6 pick in the 2024 draft, is currently ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. He was promoted to Triple-A on May 19 after an impressive showing at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, where he recorded a .322 batting average over 38 games. Since his ascension to Triple-A, he has continued to excel, posting a .319 batting average and showcasing his power with six home runs in just eight games.
Having previously played as a pitcher and first baseman during his collegiate career at Florida, Caglianone made his first professional start in the outfield during a Double-A game this April. He has since received coaching from former Royals outfield coach Rusty Kuntz, known for aiding the transition of notable players like Alex Gordon from third base to the outfield. This positional shift may have accelerated Caglianone's timeline for a call-up to Kansas City, especially considering the Royals' outfielders are currently struggling with a collective batting line of .230/.293/.316. With the recent release of veteran outfielder Hunter Renfroe, the team is keen on ensuring Caglianone's development is prioritized, despite their desire for offensive improvement as they look to make headway in the AL Central.
