Jac Caglianone Poised for Major League Debut with Kansas City Royals

Top-10 MLB prospect Jac Caglianone may soon make his major league debut with the Kansas City Royals, as reports indicate that the team plans to call him up from Triple-A Omaha. This potential promotion follows a successful period in the minors, where Caglianone showcased his batting prowess after being selected as the sixth overall pick in the 2024 draft and ranked as the tenth prospect by MLB Pipeline.
Following his promotion to Triple-A on May 19, Caglianone performed admirably in Double-A, achieving a .322 batting average along with a .394 on-base percentage and a .553 slugging percentage over 38 games with Northwest Arkansas. At the Triple-A level, he has continued to impress, hitting .319 and recording six home runs in just eight games. Caglianone expressed gratitude for the support he has received from Kansas City fans, noting the anticipation surrounding his potential arrival in the major leagues.
Before transitioning to the outfield this season, Caglianone played primarily as a pitcher and first baseman during his college career at Florida. He received guidance from former Royals outfield coach Rusty Kuntz to help him adjust to his new position. As Kansas City's outfield has struggled offensively, posting a combined .230/.293/.316 slash line, Caglianone's emergence could be timely. However, Royals general manager J.J. Picollo has emphasized the importance of Caglianone's development, considering his initial major league role carefully, with hopes that he will contribute positively to the team’s efforts in the competitive AL Central.
