Giants Rookie Abdul Carter Admits to Honest Mistake Before Packers Game

Rookie Abdul Carter Clarifies Missing Walk-Through Practice
New York Giants rookie pass rusher Abdul Carter addressed the circumstances surrounding his absence from a walk-through practice leading up to the team's Week 11 clash against the Green Bay Packers. In an interview with ESPN, Carter called his absence "an honest mistake."
"My mistake was an honest mistake," Carter stated, accepting responsibility for the situation. He clarified that he was receiving treatment at the time of the practice, reiterating that he communicated this to interim head coach Mike Kafka. "But to say I was sleeping at that time just wasn't true. And it also wasn't a trend. This was the only time it happened," he added.
Carter was benched for the first series of the Giants' 27-20 defeat against the Packers due to the incident. He explained that the scheduling change for the walk-through practice was not communicated clearly, as it differed from the previous practice times set by former head coach Brian Daboll. As a result, Carter did not realize the change until it was too late.
Reports from Dan Duggan of The Athletic claimed that Carter was found asleep in the team facility during the walk-through. However, he firmly denied this assertion, emphasizing that it was merely a misunderstanding.
As the Giants look to regroup after their loss, Carter’s honesty speaks to his commitment to the team and the importance of communication in maintaining team discipline.
