Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo recently addressed a flagrant-2 foul committed by Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart during a game played on Wednesday night. Following the incident, Antetokounmpo maintained a composed demeanor, reflecting on the physical nature of basketball and the experiences he has faced throughout his career.
"I've been in that position many times in my life," Antetokounmpo stated after the game. "I have two older brothers that pushed me on the floor, were tough on me. It doesn't really faze me anymore. All I could think about was, 'Get up and make two free throws.' At the same time, it's a dangerous play. It's not a basketball play." The foul occurred in the third quarter when Stewart pulled Antetokounmpo down by his jersey, leading to his ejection from the game.
In a dominant performance, Antetokounmpo scored a season-high 59 points, shooting 21-of-34 from the field, while also contributing 14 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks, and two steals. His impressive display was crucial in guiding the Bucks to a 127-120 overtime victory over the Pistons. Despite the absence of star point guard Damian Lillard and veteran forward Khris Middleton, Antetokounmpo led his team to secure their first back-to-back wins of the season. This momentum is expected to carry into their upcoming matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday.
