Meanwhile, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić remains the frontrunner for the Western Conference, having garnered more than 2,200,000 votes.
Antetokounmpo and Jokić's strong performances have solidified their positions as fan favorites in the ongoing voting process, which will ultimately determine the All-Star starters. Fans' votes comprise 50% of the total, while players and a media panel each account for 25%. The next update for fan voting will be shared on January 20, with the starters being announced on January 23 during TNT's NBA Tip-Off broadcast ahead of a doubleheader featuring the Bucks facing the Miami Heat and the Celtics against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Despite missing the Denver Nuggets' last two games due to illness, Jokić utilized an impressive weekend to soar to the top of the league's scoring chart, averaging 31.5 points per game. He scored 41 points, alongside 18 rebounds and nine assists in a loss to the San Antonio Spurs. In the subsequent matchup against the same team, Jokić bounced back with an outstanding performance, contributing 46 points, nine rebounds, and ten assists. Antetokounmpo, who ranks second in the league with an average of 31.3 points per game, is also showcasing potential MVP-caliber play. He recorded a triple-double against the Toronto Raptors and achieved 25 points, 16 rebounds, and eight assists in a victory over the Spurs. Antetokounmpo's efficiency stands out as he is shooting 59.9 percent from the field, marking the second-best field goal percentage of his career. This year's All-Star Game, scheduled for February 16, will feature a new format, consisting of a four-team tournament involving three teams of eight NBA All-Stars and the winning team from the Rising Stars Game. The drafting of the All-Star teams will take place on February 6, conducted by Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kenny Smith.
