With major rivals like Jayson Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton possibly sidelined, the Knicks hold the third-best odds for an NBA title behind the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Defensive Challenges and Coaching Changes

The Knicks have struggled with defensive liabilities, as evident from recent stats. Among active players with playoff experience, Jalen Brunson has the worst defensive rating at 118.08, while teammates Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges also rank poorly. This season's shift from head coach Tom Thibodeau to Mike Brown aimed to boost offensive tempo, but the transition has been rocky, particularly for Karl-Anthony Towns.
