Draymond Green Ejected But Warriors Rally for Dramatic Win Against Suns

Draymond Green's Ejection Sparks Controversy
In a heated encounter on Saturday, Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green was ejected in the first half during their matchup against the Phoenix Suns. The incident unfolded early in the second quarter when Green received a technical foul for shoving Suns guard Collin Gillespie. The situation escalated when he received another technical after arguing with referee Pat Fraher over the initial call.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expressed his frustration post-game, stating, "I thought it was weak. He definitely deserved one. But he's walking to the bench and yells something and second technical. We just saw a guy on their team literally punch Steph in the stomach the other night, premeditated, punches him in the stomach and no ejection for that. Two nights later, refs got upset with some words from Draymond. I totally disagreed," as reported by ESPN's Anthony Slater.
Warriors Overcome Ejection and Triumph
Despite trailing by 10 points at the time of Green's ejection, the Warriors mounted a remarkable comeback, ultimately securing a 119-116 victory over the Suns. This game marked Green's first ejection of the season, a significant event considering his history of technical fouls; he currently ranks No. 8 in the NBA with four technicals.
Throughout his 13 years with the Warriors, Green has been disqualified 20 times during the regular season. As he navigates the opening of the 2025-26 campaign, he is searching for more consistent offensive performance, averaging 8.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and a career-high 3.3 turnovers per game with shooting splits of 39.1/33.0/65.2.
Nonetheless, Green remains a pivotal element of the Warriors' defense. The team's defensive performance shows their strength, currently boasting the league's No. 3 defensive rating, with a notable 107.8 defensive rating when Green is on the floor. Following the victory over Phoenix, Golden State improved to a record of 14-15.
