Denver Broncos' J.K. Dobbins Facing Season-Ending Surgery

Dobbins Set to Undergo Foot Surgery
Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins is facing a challenging moment as he's reported to be done for the season due to a foot injury. ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed that Dobbins will be placed on injured reserve and is expected to undergo surgery that will sideline him for the remainder of the year.
Impact of Dobbins' Injury
The 26-year-old Dobbins suffered the injury during the Broncos' Week 10 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, missing practice on both Wednesday and Thursday leading up to the announcement. In his first season with the Broncos, Dobbins had been a critical component of the team's backfield, recording 772 yards and four touchdowns on 153 rushing attempts, averaging an impressive 5.0 yards per carry.
Fantasy football managers are now left in a tough position, as Dobbins' absence could hinder their playoff hopes. With the fantasy playoffs approaching, it is advisable for managers to explore the waiver wire for potential replacements.
Possible Replacement Options
One strong candidate is Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier. Despite being behind star running back Bijan Robinson on the depth chart, Allgeier has shown his value, particularly near the goal line, recording six touchdowns this season—five of which came in his last six games. He performed well even in a loss against the Indianapolis Colts, with 57 yards on 11 carries.
Additionally, Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears could provide a valuable option, especially in PPR leagues, as he has been involved in the passing game, catching at least three passes in each of his last four outings. Despite having only 152 rushing yards this season, his dual threat could keep him relevant.
Another option to consider is Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado, who has stepped up in the absence of his teammate Trey Benson. Demercado has showcased his efficiency with 225 yards on just 22 attempts over his past four games, averaging an impressive 10.2 yards per carry.
As the Broncos continue their campaign, they hope to have Dobbins back in February should they make a deep playoff run.
