Custom Goalie Masks Debut for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off

A new international hockey tournament is set to showcase not only the skills of some of the game's best goaltenders but also their uniquely designed masks. The 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, taking place in Montreal and Boston, will feature custom goalie masks that reflect both personal interests and national pride.
Among the revealed designs, Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck will don a custom mask for Team USA, designed by Steve Nash of Eye Candy Air. This mask prominently displays red, white, and blue colors along with images that celebrate Hellebuyck's passion for fishing. Illustrations of both Hellebuyck and a bald eagle catching fish feature prominently, making it a one-of-a-kind representation of his interests.
In a playful twist, Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger has opted for a design that highlights his nickname with an innovative portrayal of an otter dressed as the Statue of Liberty. This imaginative artwork was also crafted by David Gunnarsson of DaveArt. Adding to the excitement, Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman shared insights about his mask, which is inspired by classic American cinema, specifically referencing elements from the 2006 film 'Talladega Nights'.
Meanwhile, Ottawa Senators goalie Linus Ullmark will represent Team Sweden with a mask that draws from Norse mythology, featuring notable figures such as Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged horse, and Jörmungandr, the giant serpent. The design was collaboratively developed with input from Ullmark's children, weaving family connections into the artistic expression.
In addition, Vancouver Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen will showcase a mask for Team Finland that incorporates the lion from Finland's coat of arms, with a color scheme inspired by Lankinen's Canucks helmet. Juuse Saros of the Nashville Predators will also wear a mask designed by Gunnarsson, showcasing the Helsinki skyline alongside Finland's coat of arms, emphasizing national heritage.
The 4 Nations Face-Off is set to commence on Wednesday, with Canada and Sweden slated to face off in Montreal, marking the beginning of a competition that culminates in the championship game on February 20 at Boston's TD Garden.
