Curry Shines as Warriors Edge Nuggets in Overtime Thriller

Warriors Secure Overtime Victory Against Nuggets
The Golden State Warriors showcased their resilience and skill with a thrilling 137–131 overtime victory over the Denver Nuggets at Chase Center in San Francisco on Thursday. Stephen Curry led the charge, scoring an impressive 42 points while also contributing seven assists and six rebounds to propel his team to victory.
In a night that featured remarkable individual performances, Jimmy Butler added vital support with 21 points, five rebounds, and six assists, helping to drive the Warriors' comeback. The Nuggets' Aaron Gordon, however, was the standout of the night, posting a career-high 50 points on 17-of-21 shooting, including an astonishing 7-of-7 from beyond the arc in the first half, which set a new Nuggets' record for most three-pointers in a half.
As the teams battled it out in a fiercely competitive first half, the Nuggets managed to maintain a slight edge, heading into halftime with a 70–61 lead. Despite Gordon's hot start, the Warriors regrouped in the third quarter, tying the game at 94 heading into the final period, thanks to strong performances from both Curry and Butler.
The fourth quarter saw back-and-forth scoring, with Gordon continuing his impressive play by scoring 10 consecutive points. Curry, displaying his trademark clutch shooting, hit a game-tying three-pointer with just over a minute left. Still, Gordon answered back with a long-range shot of his own, bringing the game down to the wire. In a nail-biting finish, Curry hit another 32-foot three-pointer to once again tie the game and force overtime.
In overtime, Curry opened with a critical three-pointer, while Butler added another with just 40 seconds remaining, sealing the Warriors' victory and securing their second win of the 2025–26 season after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers just days earlier.
The Warriors will look to keep their momentum going as they hit the road to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday, while the Nuggets will try to recover from their season-opening loss when they host the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.
