Cincinnati Bengals Trade Linebacker Logan Wilson to Dallas Cowboys for Draft Pick

Trade Announcement: Logan Wilson Moves to Dallas
The Cincinnati Bengals are making a significant roster change by trading linebacker Logan Wilson to the Dallas Cowboys. The news, reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, comes as Wilson requested a trade ahead of the Tuesday deadline.
Wilson, in his sixth NFL season, has registered 46 tackles and four pass breakups over the first half of the 2025 season. However, his role with the Bengals appears to have diminished recently, as he participated in less than 50% of defensive plays in his last three games. This shift in playing time coincided with a calf injury that kept him out of a 47-42 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor opted to start Barrett Carter in Wilson's absence, a decision that caught Wilson by surprise. He expressed his confusion, stating, "The reason I was given was because they wanted a spark on defense. I don’t know what exactly that means," according to The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr.
Despite signing a four-year, $36 million extension with Cincinnati in 2023, Wilson's need for a fresh start was clear. The Cowboys, who are struggling defensively, are expected to benefit from his addition. They currently rank second to the Bengals in terms of yards and points allowed per game.
While the move may be seen as a lateral transition, Dallas fans will hope that Wilson's experience and skill can provide much-needed improvement to their linebacking unit, granting him more opportunities to showcase his potential.
