CeeDee Lamb Addresses Trade Rumors Surrounding Micah Parsons

CeeDee Lamb, the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, has expressed a lack of concern regarding recent trade rumors involving star edge rusher Micah Parsons. In a social media post on Sunday, Lamb commented on speculation surrounding Parsons potentially being traded this offseason, questioning the frequency of such rumors in the NFL. His post read, "Y'all aren't tired of this? Every offseason, top of the charts... Let's just win ball games and that's with 11! SMH."
Lamb's comments followed reports from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, who indicated that the Cowboys have engaged in 'internal discussions' about the future of Parsons, which may include considerations for either extending his contract or trading him. Their report stated, "While there have been no trade talks, sources say there have at least been some internal discussions about whether to pay Parsons or trade him for a king's ransom."
Despite the Cowboys' struggles during the 2024 season, Parsons demonstrated exceptional performance, accumulating 43 tackles, 12 sacks, and 12 tackles for loss over just 13 games. With one year left on his contract, Parsons is set to earn $24 million guaranteed as part of his fifth-year option, yet he is expected to enter free agency following the conclusion of the 2025 season. His impressive contributions as a pass rusher since being drafted in 2021 have marked him as a top player in the league. Spotrac projects his potential earnings at approximately $30 million per year, with the possibility of exceeding Nick Bosa's current contract that sees him earning $34 million annually. Should the Cowboys delay an extension for Parsons, his market value is likely to increase significantly. Although trading Parsons could represent a financially advantageous decision for the Cowboys, it would also severely impact their defense, which relies heavily on the talents of the four-time Pro Bowler. As the franchise transitions following the dismissal of head coach Mike McCarthy after a 7-10 record this season, the Cowboys will enter a new era under the leadership of Brian Schottenheimer. Lamb remains optimistic about the team’s prospects, expressing a desire to focus on winning games with Parsons still on the roster.
