Cam Thomas Secures Return to Brooklyn Nets with One-Year Deal

Cam Thomas Signs One-Year Qualifying Offer with Nets
Cam Thomas is set to continue his journey with the Brooklyn Nets after signing a one-year qualifying offer worth $6 million for the 2025-26 season. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the deal not only ensures Thomas' presence on the roster but also includes a full no-trade clause, granting him significant control over his future.
This contract is particularly strategic for both Thomas and the Nets, as it positions the young guard for unrestricted free agency next summer, a time when more teams may have available cap space to explore his talents. Thomas had a standout 2023-24 campaign, averaging a team-leading 22.5 points, alongside 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 31.4 minutes per game. Building on this success, he set new career-highs with averages of 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in the latest season, despite being hindered by a hamstring injury that limited him to just 25 games.
During his impressive career, Thomas made history by becoming the youngest player in Nets franchise history to achieve the most 40-point games (eight) before the age of 23. His remarkable performance included four games scoring 40 points or more, capped with a notable 43-point effort against the New York Knicks on November 15. However, the Nets struggled in the 2023-24 season, finishing with a 26-56 record and landing 12th in the Eastern Conference.
The franchise is in the midst of a rebuild phase, highlighted by making history with five first-round picks in the upcoming 2025 NBA draft, including No. 8 pick Egor Demin from BYU. By bringing Thomas back on a team-friendly deal, the Nets reinforce their offense and ensure they have a scoring threat as they continue to search for foundational players for their next core group.
