Sabres Star Rasmus Dahlin Temporarily Steps Away

Head coach Lindy Ruff announced this development to reporters on Friday. This news surfaces approximately a month after Dahlin shared an emotional letter revealing that his fiancée, Carolina Matovac, underwent a heart transplant following significant heart failure this summer.

Ruff assured fans and the media, stating, "I will say this, he said everything is okay," adding that Dahlin has the full support of his teammates during this challenging time. However, Ruff noted that there is currently "no timeframe" for Dahlin's return to the ice.

During the season so far, Dahlin has played in all 14 games, contributing significantly to the Sabres' efforts with one goal and eight assists while averaging an impressive 24:27 on the ice as part of the first defense pairing. The Sabres currently hold a record of 5-5-4.
