Antonio Pierce Predicts Long Road Ahead for Raiders' Recovery

Former Coach Reflects on Raiders' Struggles
In a candid discussion on CBS' NFL Today, former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce expressed his skepticism regarding the team's immediate future. Reflecting on the franchise’s challenges, he stated, "They might need decades to fix this bad boy.”
Coaching Changes and Ownership Concerns
Pierce, who led the Raiders for parts of two seasons with a disappointing record of 9-17, emphasized the repeated pattern of instability within the organization. "One and done, one and done, one and done... is there another coach gone? Another coordinator?" he queried, hinting that the issues may extend beyond the coaching staff.
After being relieved of his duties ahead of the 2025 season, Pierce was succeeded by Pete Carroll, who has struggled to improve the situation, recording just a 2-10 start in his tenure. The former coach suggested that the root of the Raiders’ ongoing problems lies within ownership, rather than solely at the coaching level.
A Historical Context of Struggles
Since 2017, the Raiders have only managed a single winning season while cycling through six different head coaches, both full-time and interim. This trend raises questions about the overall direction and management of the franchise.
Pierce concluded with a thought-provoking remark, stating, "At some point, point there and the thumb points back,” emphasizing the need for accountability within the organization.
