Miami Dolphins Open to Trade Talks for Jaylen Waddle, But Movement Unlikely

Miami Dolphins Considering Trade Offers for Jaylen Waddle
The Miami Dolphins are reportedly willing to entertain trade offers for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, as noted by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. According to Rapoport, while the Dolphins would consider dealing Waddle, they emphasize that it would take an exceptional offer to pry him away from the team.
"Sources say the Dolphins would at least consider dealing Waddle," Rapoport announced. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter elaborated that a trade involving Waddle is deemed "highly unlikely." Despite the interest in Waddle around the league, sources suggest that it is unlikely a team would be willing to part with a first-round pick along with other compensation to acquire him.
The discussions surrounding Waddle come on the heels of significant changes within the Dolphins organization, including the recent departure of general manager Chris Grier. Rapoport reported that opposing general managers perceived Grier as hesitant to engage in trade discussions prior to his exit.
The Dolphins' situation has become more urgent following a disheartening 28-6 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens, dropping their season record to 2-7. This loss could lead the team to reassess their strategy and focus on long-term development as they approach the trade deadline.
Waddle, who recently received a three-year extension worth $84.75 million, has been a vital component of the Dolphins' offense. In his career, he has surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in three out of four seasons. Currently, he has recorded 41 receptions for 586 yards and four touchdowns in nine games this season. Notably, he has stepped up significantly in the absence of Tyreek Hill, amassing 401 yards on 24 catches over five games without him.
With the trade deadline looming on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, multiple teams, including the New York Giants, are expected to keep a close eye on Waddle's availability. For now, however, it appears that a trade for the talented wide receiver would be more surprising than likely.
